Trillium’s green building

Linda Lombardini in the Trillium building during renovation

Carpenter Linda kept smiling during the months of renovation.

Our building at 323 Braun Court is a beautiful, airy, comfortable and ultra-cool place. But it started out as a gutted shell. And it was Sandi and Linda—and their son, Jason, and the ever competent Danette Bull—who did the majority of the renovation.

They hired contractors to install the drywall, plumbing, and electrical work, but the designing, carpentry, painting, drilling, insulating, door-hanging and outfitting all fell mainly to the Gang of Four.

Results of the infrared test of Trillium's office buildingIn keeping with their commitment to being environmentally responsible, they researched green materials and techniques. When the work was almost complete, they hired a company to do  an energy audit, which demonstrated via infrared testing that the building was well insulated—and produced some rather fine abstract photos.

The whole process was dusty and dirty and doggedly hard. It was absolutely worth it.

The renovation was the impetus behind Linda’s popular blog, Odd Green Fridays, which examines many eco-friendly material choices, techniques and philosophies.
