How green is Ann Arbor? Find out at the Mayor's Green Fair.
Along Main Street from Huron to William streets, which will be closed to traffic from 6-9 p.m., fair-goers can wander through the displays of environmental information and green products, and then pick the brains of exhibitors about their environmentally safer products, systems and goals.
Fun is on the agenda, too
You might be thinking that doesn't sound much like a fair. Not to worry. There'll be plenty of fun and entertainment, too, with live music from Paul's Big Radio and hands-on activities for all ages. Oh, and don't miss the live birds of prey demonstrations. Kids love these demos.
"Exhibitors will show off innovative energy-saving designs and actions, including displays of alternative fuel vehicles, demonstrations of green building materials, solar energy installations, renewable energy installations and more!" the event's Facebook page says.
"Green transportation exhibits will be sponsored by the get Downtown Program, showcasing a variety of ordinary and innovative sustainable transportation choices — ranging from ArborBike, to AAATA's hybrid buses."
And here is the most Ann Arbor statement about the Mayor's Green Fair:
"Valet bike parking will be offered."
This year's sponsor, HEH Human Electric Hybrids, is an outdoor and sporting goods company in Ypsilanti that's focused on electric bikes as a way to lower our Motor City-sized dependence on fossil fuels.
We greenie Trillium folks will be there and hope you, too, will come see what's new and wonderful in our area's greenie innovations.
